A Certain Worthless Sidekick #17 — Gekisho 9
January 29th, 2010
The Gekisho series started going downhill after 4.
Impressions:
Awesome. I was just saying the other day that this show was way too focused on developing the main characters and all the powers and interesting parts of the show, so it could really use a slowdown episode focusing on a character that nobody cares about. And what better person than Tsuzuri, the inept, eternally cowering Anti-Skill whose only role is to show up in her adorable little SWAT vest and prove that Anti-Skill has absolutely no military training whatsoever. But that’s okay. She learns how to be a manly man by playing an arcade game that looks like it predated Killer Instinct. So much for being technologically advanced.
Remember when Index tossed in random filler episodes? They had people using ancient Aztec spears and dropping buildings on each other. Plus uncomfortably Freudian commentary on Touma’s meat. I miss the Index filler. Maybe it’s just the curse of this series that you will never see the titular character do a damn thing. And meanwhile, next week they seem to be introducing yet another new character. Or maybe I’ve just forgotten them. Does it really matter at this point?
