The God of War vs The Phoenix King.

Everybody wins.

Things do not begin well on the animation side. Kakouton and his crew wander off once they get word of Kannu’s surrender, bringing an end to the stills fight, while the Seito people just kind of stand around and look confused. Kannu gets chained up and following a little “staff-in-panties” action, gets her mind invaded by the female monk (kissing of course being the preferred method of telepathic delivery), who sees Guan Yu behead an enemy and then drink the blood. She spazzes out, but Sousou and evil ghost Cao Cao are there to play with Kannu next.

Elsewhere, Koumei is rallying the Seito troops for their plan to get back Kannu, including Chou-un and the Dragon Jade. Over in Nanyo territory, Hakufu sneaks out to confront Kyosho, and Kannu comes out, now serving Sousou and attacks her. The two fight until Hakufu’s dragon comes out and she starts losing control. Then she notices Sousou on the roof top and leaps to attack, only to be shot down by him.

Next episode features the return of Saji, and him already hitting on Ryuubi, so it’ll probably be mostly another budget saving episode. This one certainly had its ups and downs from the terrible 80s style cross-kick at the start to the rather well done Kannu vs Hakufu fight at the end.
