11eyes #03 — Isn’t It Sad, Sat-kun?
October 20th, 2009
Well, you’re certainly sad at any rate.
Impressions:
A very dull episode without much meaningful plot movement. Kakeru angsts out for awhile, everybody else stalks him, then Yukipon helps Misuzu kill the first black knight. The sad part is that almost all of that was in the sponsor message at the start. You could watch that and get pretty much the entire gist of the episode. The side characters remained irritating as all hell, and they even got so bored during Misuzu lecture that they started showing random shots of the roof… or a nearby pond. That’s not a good sign.
Kakeru’s angstyness was the main focus this week though, and didn’t really help his character much. I can understand being a bit frustrated by Misuzu first turning him down and then making him jump through strange hoops, but throwing a temper tantrum is not the way to win character points. They also really need to stop dicking around with Shiori and actually do something with her already. She’s carrying around a magical grimoire and ritualistically stalking the lead. We’re three episodes in. Do something.
Brief Summary:
Misuzu can’t explain the black moon either, and Kakeru later asks her to awaken his power/teach him to fight, but she turns him down. Yukiko also gropes Yuka for fun and probably profit. Later, after almost the entire cast watches Kakeru train on his own, Misuzu decides to teach him a bit. After a long lecture, she demonstrates cutting a candle’s flame and tells him to do it before pulling Yuka outside to lecture her too. Kakeru keeps failing until he throws a temper tantrum over it, but his eye goes nuts and they’re pulled into the red world.
They’re immediately attacked by the shadows larva, who are joined by two knights. Misuzu tells the other two to run while she holds them off, but she’s only good enough to keep one in check. Kakeru and Yuka try to hide, but are quickly found and nearly killed when the girl with the chains chases off the knight. Kakeru recognizes her as his sister as he passes out. Meanwhile, Misuzu’s fighting a losing battle until the knight is stabbed in the back and then she finishes him off. One of the towers in the world disappears.
Kakeru wakes up from another dream of ruin back in the real world and Misuzu introduces their new ally, Yukiko.

The episode looks (and sounds) very…dull. I think I’ll skip this for now.
About Shiori, even in the game, it takes a while before shes does anything significant. I think it’s only after their encounter with アクディア or later, does Shiori get involved fully with Kakeru and Co.
And that won’t be for at least another three episodes, unless they take a very creative departure from the game.
