Tears to Tiara #19 — ELVES ELVES ELVES
August 9th, 2009
And, to be fair, pie.
Impressions:
The main issue here is that unlike Utawarerumono, none of the characters outside of the core three ever really have any important role in the story. That’s being rather generous and giving Riannon the benefit of a doubt and assuming that a lack of a personality counts as one, but we can argue whether or not zero is a number later. Hell, the two maids are there just for the extra maid fetish appeal and serve as really nothing more than sex toys for Arawn. So when episodes like this come along focusing on the tertiary characters, who are then all but completely ignored again for months at a time, one has to wonder what the point is.
At least they’re sort of moving things along a bit faster than recently and moving right onto the angels in the empire, which sounds like a bad Yankees-themed sequel to Angels in the Outfield. Okay, so they only has a brief four or five minute war council on that before going back to elves eating pie and Taliesin prowling for underaged flesh, but at least we’ve skipped the bad "fight in this tournament to win Londinium!" arc and, sadly, its accompanying threesome in the public bath. They’d probably replace it with a CG dragon anyway… possibly Ogam. Although… now that I’ve put that into my mind, that would be pretty hilarious.
Anyway… robble robble robble, angels in the empire, elves eating pie, Taliesin hitting on Epona, wander into cave and hear the VOICE OF LUCIFER so that we can segue into what’ll likely be a full episode flashback next week about Arawn and the angels. There was a new ED this week too, oddly enough. Not a particularly entertaining episode, but at least they’re skipping quite a bit to get things back to a reasonable spot.

Filler episode is filler. Are Taliesin and Epona an official couple anyway? It just looks kinda weird. Heck, Taliesin gets more (loli) ass than Arthur does, and for a main character, that’s just very, very sad… Doesn’t help that he used to play with flowers when he was little. Oh well, my dream of seeing at least one Arthur x Octavia doujinshi is pretty much shattered at this point.
In other news, awwwwwwwwwwwww~ Llyr is doing something cute agai-Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz~
