Train Girls #01 — Trains Mostly Optional
October 8th, 2026
Spares me from having to dance around train puns.
Iceblade should have aired a couple hours ago. Maybe there's no webcasts. I have things to do, so it might be a bit put off. Not that I'm looking forward to it, but I owe that weird thing at least one episode, and who knows, given the rest of the season, maybe it'll lean into being freaky enough to at least not suffocate my brain cells.
Impressions:
The absolute minimum for any of these hobbyist club shows should be to actually engage with whatever it's claiming to be a fan of in some minimal way. She… rides a train, I guess? Then gets up the courage to… attend an ad presentation. God help them when they discover time shares. Then struggles to get up the courage to allow people to try to recruit her to a club. What club? Train club, of course! But not now, later. It's time to get back on a t– Nope, skip to do a tourism montage. Okay, NOW we can return and join the train club. Wow, this sure has been all about trains, hasn't it?
At least things like Miracle Train or Rail Romanesque largely took place on trains. This is just girls existing, and we mention trains occasionally. It's biggest jokes are things like "I love tea." "Yes, you do drink a lot of it." or "I want to join your club." "AM I A WEIRDO FOR SAYING THAT!?" The hardest pill to swallow is that these are supposedly college aged people. Not just from the character designs, but from them all acting like 10 year olds. But sure, since we're overstuffed with RPG and cheat power crap, this has to do double duty for both the tourism and the club show for the season, while being terrible at both.
