When the Seagulls Cry #06 — Ride The Furniture

August 5th, 2009

Jess, why are you even asking its permission?

Impressions:

Ugh. I had hoped they’d speed through this part a lot more than they did. I guess at least they did a relatively thorough job covering one of the most painfully obvious relationship parallels that this story has to offer between Kanon and Jessica, and George and Shannon. Shannon wants to be more than just the Ushiromiya’s furniture and Kanon’s fatalistic about it, and even tries to dissuade Jessica from jumping his bones because he’s beneath her… only literally in Jessica’s mind. Beatrice pretty much just hovers around… occasionally literally… and tells the *nons that she can give them what they wants with magic. Feh. There’s been eviler.

Jessica probably poses the most interesting idea of the whole episode, and that’s the fabrication of an alternate personality, but considering that at least one of the people on the island is pretending to not be killing all the others, I’d think that goes without saying. Of course, there’s always the theory that Kanon takes it to heart and is posing as a certain giant chested maid by the time of the murders… which would also explain why he turned down Jessica. All the servants want to get their hands on George’s ottoman and this whole thing is just a giant conspiracy to get have their tawdry way with George.

Now that would be evil.

Well, so is that Touhou cosplay band that Jessica plays in. But no China? That’s just plain rude.

RIDE THE LIGHTNING > RIDE THE FURNITURE

  • thatguy says:

I was hoping there would at least be some pipesmacking in this episode. Hope its in the next one. Or at all.

  • Phocus says:

Animation is better this week. And Beatrice looks WAY better than her debut last episode (her squinty eyes and giraffe-like neck were very unattractive)…

Hope to see good things from this new arc – “Turn of the Golden Witch”.

Btw Aroduc, you forgot to mention that Beato’s portrait changed in the OP~!

  • Cross says:

    Hah, they kept Tomitake flash.

  • kazama54 says:

Looks like they changed the opening. Beatrice dress went from formal to school uniform.

@thatguy: Well it’s the beginning of a new arc. K1 and friends were playing card in those episodes. At least there was going on more here.

@kazuama54: Well observed. Actually this is more of a suit-version of the Beatrice in dress. You see why next episode.

  • thatguy says:

I’ve been wondering something. How are they going to do the red text?

  • Cross says:

    Prolly write in the air.

  • Anon999 says:

Ride the Wind seems more appropriate.

  • Digdri says:

@thatguy: That’s the question all the VN had since they announced the anime. Well perhaps the find a clever solution to this otherwise it may come of quite awkward.

  • The Phantom says:

Utterly bored by this show, so many psychos and not even a single decent brutal death? Where is the blood? where is the gore? where is the violence? even the mistery or whatever is uninteresting and the studio seems to resort to a character laughing-like-a-maniac so damn often.

Unless there is a gruesome murder scene on the next episode or at least something interesting happens beside the whole boring witch crap, I am dropping this series.

This season has become deception after deception.

  • Gin says:

Ah, so I wasn’t the only one looking for China, eh?
