Sentenced to be a Hero #10 — Friendly Fire
March 12th, 2026
Nothing wrong with a little overwhelming bombardment.
Impressions:
It was probably inevitable after stretching the budget last week, but a very dull setup episode, and very little budget left for the action, so it was back to half of it being stills. Hell, the alarm that the city is under attack rings at about seven minutes into the episode, and no monsters show up for another ten minutes. Oh, but that's just pacing. No, it happens in the morning, and nobody shows up until after dark. They even have enough time not just to set up fortifications, but to have meetings about how they're setting up fortifications and discuss logistics, tactics, and the current political situation. Really stretching the definition of an alarm here.
The highlight is probably meant to be the new dude, the long-alluded to Rhyno guy. Or maybe Kivia's creepy uncle who she goes berserk over any insinuation that something may be up with him. Yeah, that's the way to clear his name. Anyway, Rhyno's schtick is just that he enjoys overwhelming firepower. And… that's kind of it, really. He's also a bit smarmy? Which everyone finds offputting for some reason. Feel like we really needed to start with him actually unnecessarily blowing something up instead of just saying that he might've done it at some point. Off screen. No, you can't see it. So he ends up just being a second grinning guy, but with a canon instead of being a coward.
