Which Tamon is it Now? #01 — Screaming Fangirls
December 31st, 2025
Please don't.
Apparently the "midnight on Thursday" that the official website advertised for early broadcasts meant today, not tomorrow. Whatever.
Impressions:
For about five minutes, I was just extremely annoyed. Its approach to humor is volume. The more, the funnier. Nothing can be said that can't be shouted, and if you're not deafening the audience, they're not laughing. Can't say I agree, but I also can't say that it's a rare approach to comedy in the anime space. Then, however, we got the gag bit where he says that he's pathetic and a fraud, which prompted a screamed defense of not just the entire idol industry, but that it is every teenage girl's purpose in life to worship and adore pop stars as gods, obeying them in every way and throwing away every aspect of their lives in their service. That's where things went from abrasive to repugnant.
And no, this is not satire. Yeah, I'm sure we're supposed to take her as an unhinged fangirl, but oops, now they're falling on each other in sexy ways, so nope, it really is simply a full throated defense of a bunch of the most deleterious and exploitive parts of the idol industry. Most of the episode passed in the background from that point, as I was already mentally composing this post, the first five minutes having been bad enough that I couldn't see the rest salvaging things. And they didn't. More sexy falling on each other. A godawful CGI concert scene to sell their single. More being his maid and waiting on him hand and foot while screaming. I guess at least there was a bit less expository yelling in the second half of the episode. Maybe by the fourt episode, it'll be down to just regular yelling.
