Yano’s Ordinary Days #01 — Needs More Leeches

September 30th, 2025

Or just a beheading.

Impressions:

Welcome to the second thing that you're going to be seeing nonstop this season after cheat power reincarnation RPG worlds, shoujo. Yes, the season preview is coming. Yes, I overestimated my own ability to process and deal with so much unmitigated tripe robbing me of all hope for the medium. I am kind of enjoying putting things off until the evening though. It's easier to be distracted. In any case, we have the mystery of the boy who's always covered in bandages that everybody knows about but nobody knows why. And then, as soon as they find out that he's clumsy, he starts being clumsy at school too and everybody knows about it. The premise… is not very well thought out.

Nor are the characters or their dynamic for that matter. He's clumsy. She likes taking care of people with minor cuts and bruises. That's it. That's the entire dynamic on which all things are based on, characters, humor, silly faces. I'd say animation too, but there's virtually none of it. I wouldn't be surprised if this was originally intended to be a motion comic or whatever they're called these days, the budget got slightly too large, and someone said "Hey, I've got $15 to burn, reserve a 3am timeslot and let's call this a show." It's not offensive, which is a bar that I think at least fifteen shows this season are very unlikely to clear, but I don't know what's supposed to be the hook to watch more either. The faces that she makes? At least there's minimal screaming.
