Man, do I long for the merely janky scripts of the Nice arc, because ever since then, it's pretty baffling to me what they're doing with these characters and the world. It starts with literally the entire country tuning in to watch the local wunderkind's valedictorian speech, only so they can laugh at and mock her. Who in the sports bar was all "Yo, guys, let's watch Not-Harvard commencement. It's gonna be awesome." Except that her entire speech is also about how awesome she is and how she's going to kick everybody's asses because she's just the best ever at everything. Cut/Montage and this was apparently the big Me Too moment that solved sexism and propelled women to the top somehow, and the newest woman top heroine is being called in to be browbeaten and told that she owes everything to her. At least they showed her saving one person from some random not-very-super villain, but you're all arrogant asses who deserve to be slapped down a peg.
Eventually, we smash cut again to the guy I think everybody has been calling X having won the whole nonsensical tournament off-screen. So the whole "how does she deal with adversity" is just her sitting in a dark room announcing "I have experienced adversity." Uncle Ben's death it ain't. We didn't even see the try, let alone the fail, or anything past that. So instead the lady y'all were complete asses to is plotting revenge. Which, you know, is fair considering what dicks you were, but is also pretty random because there's nothing connecting her own loss to now wanting revenge. It's not like Queen undermined her right before the fight or proceeded to take her glory. Why aren't you plotting revenge against the dude who beat you instead? Also, there's a random dude with a magic pet. He exists to… have a magic pet. …Great.
