Mystery Solved After Dinner #01 — Improper Victim Procedure
April 4th, 2025
Wait, nobody even checked if she was even dead or needed medical help?
This is my second time writing this post because my site continues to be on fire and the entire thing got wiped out because I tried to open WordPress's link shortcuts. So now I'm extra annoyed.
Impressions:
It's certainly entirely comedy with very little effort made at actual mystery, but since it's 2025, that means that every character has to scream very loudly and overreact at the top of their lungs. The live action version was at least completely over the top, although maybe that's just the juxtaposition of anime tropes with actual people instead. In any case, overreactions. Loud overreactions. At the top of their lungs. You'd also think they'd do more with her double life, but everybody knows about it except the cops. Which is even weirder because she also fits the attacker's profile of a woman in a red dress with a jewel. Not green, but close enough. Everyone knew she was there. She made a huge scene falling over. If a suspect just vanished from the scene, I'd think I'd have questions. Likewise, wasn't she hanging out with all her friends the entire time? She's also a witness that none of them could've done it. It's a good thing they weren't focused on the mystery at all.
But with all the yelly comedy, the most obnoxious part was probably the last five or so minutes of the episode when the butler finally physically formed instead of dropping props off from just off-screen. Yes, a large part of why it was obnoxious is because the yelling reached a fever pitch and was louder and more showcased than ever, but it was mainly because about three minutes from the end of the episode, he went "The answer is obvious," and then the padding began. I'd tell you, but you're an idiot. You sure want me to tell you, don't you? What if you figured it out yourself? All the pieces are right there. The answer is so clear, if you just stop and think about it. Aaaand, we're out of time. Guess it'll have to be next week. What a comical lark that was, wasn't it? We are all laughing here. Or something.
