Harley Quinn #40 — Justice for the Crab Leg Buffet

August 1st, 2023

Vegas is nowhere near that clean.

Impressions:

I miss the capers, honestly. All of this season feels like they're just rehashing old plotlines when it keeps billing itself as things are totally different and changing. Back at the end of season 2 when Harley and Ivy were doing the bachelorette party/cheating on Kite Man, it was the same thing. Just going crazy, bringing out the most impetuous and chaotic in each other as Harley awkwardly fights with her conscience over it while Ivy is just plain oblivious to all of it. Didn't we do the whole compartmentalization between evil and normal life with Joker's arc anyway?

And I don't see how the whole speech about them not having anything in common anymore follows from any of that. Ivy swinging wildly between conscientious evil one episode and hedonistic drug fueled gratuitous bloodlust certainly doesn't help that. Nor is redoing Clayface as a diva yet again. When has he not been a diva?  I don't feel like the show has run its course or there are no more good ideas to have, but it's definitely feeling pretty stale and a few gags about shark doulas or the like here and there aren't carrying it.
