Oh, so every floating severed hand is evil now?
Impressions:
Riiight. This show. It was barely average action in an otherwise awful season, and appears to have its only serious competition on Monday to be Synduality, which starts next week. The protagonist was decent in that he both was motivated, ready to pick a fight, and both intelligent and thick, but otherwise, it really liked to pretend like it was about to advance the plot or characters in any way, only to pull back and go "Nah, that was all practice." Its ostensible deuteragonist was awful though. She's the star child, but nobody can really explain how or why, and she herself has no impact or influence on the story. Even if she was just a damsel in distress, that would be more involvement than she's had after thirteen episodes.
And I'm not sure that this season is looking to be any different, starting out with abject filler for the first third, and then introducing another cabal of monster hunters, probably forgetting that it never really did much with the first bunch it introduced. A lot was also flashbacks to his siblings getting pithed by the monster, which I guess fills the purpose of recap without really doing so, but the next episode preview following right after all that gives away the game that this isn't a cliffhanger and menacing umbrella lady is likely just going to wander right off without anything happening. As is this show's tradition.
