Rokudou’s Bad Girls #01 — Making Date Rape Cool Again

April 7th, 2023

Please, my ears. They don't deserve this.

Impressions:

You've got to admire the chutzpah of starting out a show by having the main character narrate that this is a love story, and going into how he got the power that forces women to love him against their will. Nor is it helping its case when it starts out with woe-is-me, so much bullying, and then the second it stops, they start leering at the nearest girl before retreating into the toilet to scream together about how much they love leering at women and just want to do it without consequence. Godawful pacing as well to go with the story. Usually, you'd want to at least get to the little jackass of a protagonist redeeming himself for the first episode, but nope. Apparently that's not to come until probably halfway through next week.

But mostly, it's the yelling. Because this is supposedly a comedy more than a 'love story', so the yelling would continue for the rest of the episode. It has been a very, very, very, VERY shouty day. Nothing can be said that cannot be shouted. No reaction can had that isn't accompanied by an over the top yell, exaggerated facial expression, and occasionally exploding lightning. I continue to be amazed that this is Satelight. It's poorly made. The music is poor to non-existent. It's obnoxious Jump crap. I know they have their off shows, but even Caligula still had a great score behind it and moments of actual animation.

2 Shouts From the Peanut Gallery

WTF with the ancient Egyptian eyeliners, man.

When the main geek started talking about his grandfather I thought he was about to break out the Millennium Puzzle.

This show looks like a relic from the mid-2000’s.
