Warring Era BASARA #09 — Good Idea; Bad Idea
May 27th, 2009
Good Idea: Using your supersonic speed to hit the person 6 feet away from you.
Bad Idea: Using your supersonic speed to run 6 meters to jump in front of the bullets they’re shooting.
Impressions:
A very death filled episode… if you have the gullibility of a treefrog. It was still probably the most action packed since Hondam was roaming the earth, so it was enjoyable at least. We finally got to see Kenshin in action against Nouhime (and to a lesser extent, Ranmaru, and he was pretty decent, although Kasuga really sucked it up something fierce. Honestly, you dumb ninja floozy. The wife of your sworn enemy just tried to assassinate your boytoy. Slit her throat. Why would you even want her as a hostage? Just what kind of ninja floozy are you anyway?
The second shoulder wound that we’re supposed to believe is fatal came from Mitsuhide vs Shingen, which was awkward for a number of reasons which brings us to the second…
Good Idea: Fighting the crazy guy before repairing the dam.
Bad Idea: Hoping that the crazy guy will sit back and let you fix the dam in peace.
It was still a relatively decent fight at least, although it took a little bit to get there. The jump from Kenshin ‘dying’ in Kasuga’s arms to… SHINGEN VS RAIN was not the best direction choice imaginable. If there hadn’t been a 2-3 minute gap of Shingen flexing and henchmen droning on about the dangers of the river flooding, things would have flowed from one high point to another. Instead we got… rain. Talk about breaking the flow. Pun not intended.

Kasuga is probably the most useless kunoichi ever. I’ve seen Magikarp and Hinata Hyuuga fight better than her.
