Broken girls having another breakdown.

Impressions:

Pity this is apparently not a full series, as it's profoundly more interesting than the other Actidol thing. It even ends on a cliffhanger, so maybe it'll be an OVA? Anyway, a large part of that is because it's about a bunch of characters in the midst of having a complete mental breakdown, some of whom were broken well before the zombie apocalypse. In a rarity for anime, it uses a lot of silence and subtlety. We get one brief conversation about how one of the main characters reacted to her chronically sick mother's death, and that's all we need to understand and frame her uncomfortable detatchment to watching her classmates die in front of her, as well as her friend's relationship with her. It's so nice to not be beaten over the head, especially after that episode of being screamed at incessantly.

It isn't really treading any new ground though. Which is fine, but if this is really all that we're getting for it, then just go watch School-Live instead. It's by all appearances going to have the exact same developments, right down to the broken girl having a second breakdown due to her friend being zombified. The random woman-on-a-helicopter who immediately flew off to immediately get swarmed by about 10 shambling 13 year olds, and explode was also some grade A out-of-nowhere nonsense. I'd much rather there be more of this than anything else I watched today.
