As Miss Beelzebub Likes #01 — “How Pink Can We Make a Show?”
October 10th, 2018
I think you needed a better thesis than that.
This airs lateish, but not this late. Not sure what made it take so long to pop. Whatever.
Impressions:
Two and a half minutes of a screen covered in pink with just the titular character flouncing around, mumbling about how pink and fluffy everything is. And so it would continue, except with constant shots of her plunging cleavage and the male lead constantly yelling about it. If you think that's too subtle, don't worry, the entire peanut gallery is there to announce it too, along with the narrator. Nothing gets by this cast, or can go without being announced, explained, and then re-explained. So goes the humor.
Even if maybe you might find Beelzebub, paraded around like a slab of meat, cute, the constant screamed recitations exhaust and irritate me, and especially the attempt to wring out melodrama about how much he was worried about her rankles my nerves. She has the mental faculty of a sheep and he the temperament of a chihuahua with rabies. Slapping together some kind of dramatic "I care about you so much" nonsense with a thousand violins all wailing in unison, or bloom to cover the already pastel screen in enough white to be mistaken for a blizzard, isn't going to solve that.
