Middle Manager Tonegawa #01 — To Start, Recap

July 3rd, 2018

And how.

Impressions:

At least the narrator was enjoying himself. At least, I think he was. He sounded like they pulled some random dude off the street, filled them full of sugar, and then recorded everything in one take. Which is especially impressive because they gave most of the crew the day off. On one hand, while expected to be terribly animated, there's technically more animation here than in the last show I watched. On the other hand, just shy of four straight minutes… a fifth of the goddamned episode… is a recap montage from the thing it's spining off of. The show hasn't even technically started yet, and it's already fleeing in terror from itself. That's kind of amazing.

"Generic Dudes look generic" is the height of the jokes here as it kind of meanders between a few characters once it finally escapes the recap bugbear, bereft of any point. Perhaps there's some schadenfreude to be had from listening to the narrator and marveling at haphazardly and randomly things get announced and even recapped on the spot. That's as far as I'll go though. I probably should've just filed this under my "Ew, sequels" rule and left it alone from the start.

BTW several shows (Harukana Receive, Chio-chan no Tsuugakuro, Planet With) were already pre-aired and uploaded on the interenet. Are you planning to check them as well?

    • Aroduc says:

I didn’t see them on a casual check of the usual places I keep an eye on (and still don’t), so apparently not. There are five shows today, and two of those air normally tomorrow anyway, so I’ll just hit them up then.

this review lacks legitimacy for its absence of zawa zawa’s.
