Momma don’t take my Kodachrome away.

Impressions:

I honestly completely forgot about this OVA, but I knew there was some reason to get the season preview done a little early… stupid glut of OVAs released this week. 

Anyway, one of the more fun and silly episodes of the series. Sae digs out a camera, and the girls spend the day playing around with photos. Hiro gives everybody a makeover, they sketch on the photos, and Yoshinoya enjoys a day of karaoke. A few of the characters did seem rather blatently shoehorned in, especially in the last 5 minutes of the episode where it became a parade of secondary characters. Natsume’s also really not that interesting without Sae around. Hiro got the final laugh in the end by photographing everybody else’s sleeping faces.

There was a lot of Hiro bullying this episode, which I never approve of. She even made Sae actually look like a girl (okay, and also like a boy) and gave Yuno a punkish makeover. The exposed midriff is a good look for Yuno. The headdress… not so much. We could have also used more Yoshinoya, but that’s true of just about every show, let alone Hidamari.
