Well, this was sure masturbatory.
Impressions:
Show, you're nowhere near as clever as you think you are. The forlorn girl with a constant mysterious sickness dreaming of having a normal, regular life. Yeah, I think I had that figured out by about the second cough, let alone the flashes of her in a hospital bed some seven minutes later, let alone the explanation that she's dying some three to four minutes later. The whole episode is basically drama masturbation for masturbation's sake. I won't say that it doesn't tug a little on the heartstrings, but it's also painfully obvious where it's going and what it's doing, and it's just pure sappiness all the way. I think it would've worked significantly better had she shown a little bit of ugliness, fear, and/or resentment in the face of death and everything that was denied her rather than just smiling and thanking the protagonist for being the bestest ever like a good sick little girl.
Which brings us back to the protagonist. Let's remember that this is the same guy who took dismemberment with a shrug and gleefully watched/participated in murder in the past two episodes. This week, he apparently has a wellspring of empathy that is unsurpassed by even Jesus. Not only that, but for some reason, despite 100% of his experiences with witches being basically completely positive with him completely in control of them and the situation at all times, he looks on with utter horror when Girl Of The Week turns into one. I continue to Not Get It, and more and more I'm suspecting that it's because they have absolutely no idea what they're doing with him, except that he's the perfect enabler for every female each week. Hmmm…
