Ä“lDLIVE #01 — Fancy Transitions

January 8th, 2017

Looks like someone got After Effects for Christmas.

Impressions:

Yeah, yeah. It's Jump. It's barely animated, every character looks like they were smacked in the face with a shovel, the protagonist spends his time shrieking, making stupid faces, or self-narrating his entire backstory, but boy, does it have unusual transitions. It's almost kind of like they're trying to be Shaft (or really, given all the pastels, Silver Link) because those looked like pretty cool ways to cheap out on animating things. Sure, a little input from the director is better than absolutely none at all, but you know what's even better than that? A story, and characters who aren't sacks of depressive garbage.

This is about 17 minutes of lazy introductory exposition before he trips over something to do, resulting in yet more goddamned exposition. The sum total of our 'hero's' actions this week is diving for cover one time. That's it. The rest of it he spends either talking about how he's such a sad sack, or having the setting explained to him like he has the mental capacities of a deaf chihuahua, which to be fair, is not far off.

Next Episode:

Please stop.

2 Shouts From the Peanut Gallery

  • Neclord X says:

JEsus, I didn’t know Rie Kugimiya could be this annoying, and we are talking about Rie Kugimiya here, but this role is in a whole new level, I wanted to kill my ears after 3 minutes

  • The Phantom says:

lol at the powerpoint transitions, is painfully obvious they have pretty much not budget, heck the background characters in Zestiria look WAY better than the main cast here, lets not even mention music, VAing, backgrounds or animations, in fact probably a single episode of Zestiria has more budget than the whole thing here.

The most amazing aspect of this show is how the male lead somehow manages to outmatch Seiren male lead in blandness, the guys is the most annoying self loathing POS I have seen in recent years, just WOW.
