All Out!! #01 — The Love Story Defining Our Times

Wasn't this supposed to be about rugby?

Impressions:

And here we have a contrast that couldn't highlight the things that the last show did any better if it was made specifically for that. This wants absolutely nothing to do with the sport that it pretends to be about. It's all over the place; pretending in turns to be a comedy (at least by the 'wacky' music and exaggerated reactions), melodrama, and especially bizarrely when compared to a show about mashing sexual characteristics together until someone collapses into a wet pool, romance. I've watched more than enough Japanese media to understand what it means when two characters stare longingly into each other's eyes amidst a typhoon of cherry petals and the entire background turning a pastel pink glow. And if that's the image you have when you think about rugby, then you and I clearly have very different ideas of what the sport entails. They're not making any secret of it either with the way petals rain down over almost every scene.

Anyway, it doesn't take a genius to figure out which market they're targeting here, and it sure as hell ain't rugby fans. Or sports fans. Or animation fans. But I'm sure it'll fuel at least a corner at Yaoicon, and who could possibly ask for more than that?

I was expecting the typical *Mega super tackle of the tiger* kind of show and was seriously not expecting a gay show, on a rugby anime nonetheless!

This dudes hair that was the best they could come up with? Are they even trying anymore?-
