Train Zombos #12 — Tits vs Gun

June 30th, 2016

Yeah, we just uh, got tired of our premise, did we?

Impressions:

Unsatisfying end completing this hugely unsatisfying arc and a final dismantling of this show by relegating its entire train/zombie thing to nada. The zombies could've been replaced by burning trash bins for this entire arc and nothing would've changed in the slightest. They were mere pebbles to be stepped over, start to end, and all the faffing for the last few weeks about SUPER MEGA ZOMBIE mode was resolved with yelling a little bit and the power of trying really hard for your friends and thus, she snapped out of her inner-world mopiness and that was that. Fan-goddamned-tastic.

The writing was never this show's strong point, but everything from Biba's introduction onward has springboarded everything straight into the concrete. Doofus duels with Villain, does the whole FEEEEELINGS schtick apropos of goddamned nothing because these two have even less of a relationship than I do with my cheese grater, but she pops right back out and everybody who matters rides off into the sunset, hale and hearty, onward to their next adventure or whatever, but now with the power of COURAGE or DETERMINATION or FRIENDSHIP or god only even knows what. The motion was there, but the characters, development, plot, and even the animation for the most part was not.

Final Thoughts:

At least it started fairly exciting and fast-paced, even if it was a little melodramatic and nonsensical. The characters and the world certainly had room to grow, and it had a fairly strong production budget behind it for a while, even if there were frequent major lapses into random stills. Unfortunately, all the characters did was stagnate and the plot went from bearable if you don't look too hard to utter tripe. Things like the blood contract were introduced and summarily forgotten and I'm not even sure Whose-Its and the Princess interacted at all again after that point. Mumei got it the worst, being reduced to just a thing to be rescued, powerless to stop herself from being exploited by a character who half-assed a tragic backstory as an excuse for being evil for evil's sake, but all of them had dubious worth to the story, even before it became Biba's Evil Insane Plotting Hour while the entire steampunk/train/zombie thing was likewise utterly punted. It wasn't even really clear why Whose-Its suddenly cared so much about her anyway. Because he saw he trying hard that one time?

Let this season begone and never spoken of again.

I see from your screen caps that the ending had red butterflies. Red butterflies means that it was meaningful in what it was trying to mean… so don’t be so mean to it. (rotflmao that you lasted to the end of this p.o.s., because I dropped this dog after the first episode…)

Oh well, thanks again for giving us another season of laughs at your pain. You are a gentleman and a scholar! Hurrah! Hurrah! Hurrah!

And, oh yes, we do look forward to seeing what you suffer through during the Summer Season.

I haven´t watched this joke for weeks but i recommended Alan Moore´s Crossed +100, besides the Titan manga, to see the theme the show abandoned done right. Ichiro Okouchi is fucking garbage and his Berserk films, dear god. Speaking of tomorrow… please be coherent, Miura deserves it.

  • Neclord X says:

I can’t belive how a single character can spoil so much a show, Biba came from nothing being evil FF tier for the only sake of being evil and suddenly he saves the MC, this was just…really sad. But the saddest thing is that with all it still was the best thing this season

  • residentgrigo says:

@Neclord X The best thing was either JoJo or Flying Witch.

  • anise_punter says:

Just making sure, there are still hordes of zombies everywhere right

    • Aroduc says:

Who knows? There apparently weren’t in the ruined city given the peaceful egress.

  • Opulent Rag says:

I could feign disappointment and/or aggravation, but at this point it’s for all for nothing, literally. I’ll just forget this thing ever existed in weeks time like the other crap that came out this season.

  • The Phantom says:

Biba was the bane of this show, he was just nonsensical, and the deconstruction of Mumei just aggravated things, a shame because the setting was good and the start was very strong.

Still the best thing that has aired in several years, if only Mumei had remained as the badass she was and Biba had had never showed up things would have fare better? Who knows too late now for that.

    • Tiresias says:

Note to self: Never touch anything with Okouchi’s name on it ever again.

I literally chortled when the dumb princess when into jail full of paranoid people who are under attack for the first time in who knows how many years and told them to free her people because “what we must shoot are out doubting hearts and minds” and everyone just gave up, this is some primo idiocy.
of course muh feelings fixed everything, that is expected but at least give me something. They even give the bad guys army a ride out of the town.Im sure adding survives from the city+ the enemy had a good effect on all those shortages.
