Impressions:
I actually have to kind of admire the marketing here. It was an original show, and all they released about it was how it was a world where the sea was the big thing, and girls love the sea. I wasn't even sure what "Hai Furi" was supposed to be for because they referred to it as nothing but that. Turns out, it's High School Fleet, which makes all become painfully, painfully clear. Girls und Panzer was popularish, right? And Kancolle is popular, right? So let's just do literally the exact same thing, but on ships. Girls doing their best and being friends because friends and friendship are the friendliest friendings to ever friend a friend, but also occasional ugly CGI things splashing around because girls are doing their best.
Probably the most damning sign that this was spawned out of a marketing department and then foisted on some poor writers is that there's some random cat just sitting around which is the mascot of the show. It's just… there. Well, that and that there seems to be literally only one male in the entire show. He appears for approximately three seconds and has I think two lines. Then I went back and checked an earlier crowd scene, and there were like, two others, total. That's so much more confusing than if there were none at all, and yes, the rest of the show was so totally vapid and dull that this is what I choose to focus on. It's a transparent knockoff of a show I found dull to begin with, chasing after coattails that have already long since gone away. …At least should have. Years ago.

It’s my fault for having expectations, but this is not at all what I expected or wanted.
