Dimension W #04 — Don’t Forget Your Towel

January 31st, 2016

How does that thing stay on?

Impressions:

You'd have thought that this was turning out to be some kind of murder mystery or ghost story, but then it took a left turn into utter nutter lunacy with something like… the robot got sucked into the parallel mystery novel reality and/or the past and, terrorists looking for the magical widgets kidnapped the scion whose dreams are the only way in, but the murdered guy isn't really murdered, unless it's just his detective world doppelganger, who kidnapped the robot in the bath towel… It's ironic that they spent about a third of the episode on straight up exposition only to end up with that. Maybe they were too distracted by their own T&A and weren't paying attention to what they were writing. All I can say about that is that her towel is some kind of miracle for staying on.

Yeah, I have no idea, and it doesn't help that most of it was explained by the protagonist and his boycrush sitting at a table far far away, and much of the first half was spent on introducing characters who would do such important things as releasing robotic bats. Didn't accomplish anything with them. Just got introduced, someone announced that they were after the magic coil thingies too, and then let some bats go. I'm glad we spent time on her. She seems integral to events and a very interesting character.

5 Shouts From the Peanut Gallery

  • The Phantom says:

I thought the robot had some kind of plastic underwear permanently attached?

The car scene at the beginning was clearly Silent Hill, only the “Welcome to Silent Hill” sign was missing!

    • il-Palazzo says:

      [Manga-only info]
She’s got new skin when Koorogi fixed her head. Including the ability to hide her chest-coil under her skin, that’s new too.

  • algorithm says:

If you’re not watching this solely for the robutt, you’re doing it wrong.

  • Longing says:

Yeah, I got the same impression. Felt like the first part of the episode was fairly detached from the last 5 minutes. “Luckily”, I’m pretty sure they’ll spend the first 10 minutes of the next episode explaining what happened in the last half of this one.
