Akame #02 — Gay People Are Creeeeeeepy

And other hilarious jokes.
I did flip through La Bonne Vie and Survival Club this morning, but neither really changed my thoughts on them. The former lacks the characters and especially the budget to make the comedy work, and the latter continues to lack any variation on the jokes… and its budget also dwindled from its already low standing.
Impressions:
Things kick off with “My friends are dead! Listen to these sad violins! BOIYOING! TITS!” So no, it has not gotten any less obnoxiously and ineffectively manic. As I said before, the show would be so much better served without the slapstick. The budget and action also took a very hard hit, although I don’t miss the CGI monsters. Since this is White Fox, I suppose that’s not all that surprising. They take to action like a dead lion takes to swimming the English Channel. They did show a little bit of effort last week though. Apparently that’s all they had in their tanks.
At least past the opening scene, they kept the serious and slapstick better separated, but that could also be because the assassinating was more or less just an afterthought to the episode. It was more concerned with just giving a tour of the main cast. Granted, it certainly could have been more inorganic if they just had their salient points exposited out, but it was still uninteresting and most of them then disappeared entirely from the rest of the episode, so what the hell was even the point?
Next Episode:
Pink hair girl episode.

They are simply lost, trying to copy FMA to put seriousness with comedy in the same pace… failing horribly. The manga isn’t better at that, as it is a standard shounen with little to no variancy.
Well, at least we have SAO II to laugh a little, or JoJo and oba-sans with creepy tongues making creepy faces for simply clusterfuck laughs.
