Valvrave #03 — Slap Trumps Vampire
April 25th, 2013
Not winning any man points there, kid.
Impressions:
Dull. Dull dull dull dull dull. If the first two episodes had the charm of a screeching, rending, disastrous train wreck, then this had the excitement of the conductor announcing the schedule. A lot of pissing around, exposition, revealing such surprising things as "he’s like a vampire," and using Twitter. Yes, there’s an entire scene where he tweets and it is the greatest goddamned thing ever if the show is to be believed. So much so that players stop in the middle of a space soccer match to get a microphone and respond. Okay, that’s kind of amusing in the utterly nonsensical way. I guess there were some naked boobs or something too.
Besides that, the big event of the episode that actually directly involved any of the characters was Elfy escaping the worst captors ever. His plan was, while tied up with regular rope (handcuffs are for losers) and surrounded by people holding SMGs, to take apart his chair, flip a screw at the light, catch a piece of broken glass, use it to cut himself free, kill a guard, then use the guard’s gun to shoot the other ten people in the room. And it worked. I’m pretty sure this plan would have failed at the initial "throw screw at light phase" for at least three reasons, but hey, maybe he’s built up incredibly wrist strength with all his male terrorist buddies by… uh… polishing banisters.
Next Episode:
What happened to the guy with the body pillow?
