Gachiyuri #19 — Tea and Cake
August 13th, 2012
There are no Y chromosomes in this world. Anywhere.
Impressions:
While most of the episode was about the characters’ sisters, guess who ate up nearly the entire first half? Ugh. Glasses. Oh, a pink background, some exceedingly light lesbian fantasy, then drool/blood spew. Hilarious. At least overplay it. Be weird with it. Be anything but bland. Having Akane wear her sister’s panties on her head while sharing tea and cake, not to mention huffing the odors coming off a dressed-up body pillow is far closer. Even Chinatsu’s sister squirming uncomfortably about her illicit relationship with said pillow huffer. Glasses though? I’d have much much rather watched Sakurako lounge around with her randomly generated family arguing over pizza. Especially given the things that Japan puts on their pizzas. They’re monsters, I tell you, monsters.
The second half was much better, although it did sort of trail off towards the end into just another lame "boobs getting bigger" joke. Himawari was trying to lose weight because she’s a big fatty. I give it about a 30% chance that they wanted to have her bouncing on an exercise ball and just built the rest of the segment around that, although Akarin removing her weighted hairbuns to unleash her full strength was oddly… fitting. It could’ve used more of those kinds of delusions… as well as more of Himawari playing with Sakurako’s ball. There’s just something… hypnotic about it… or maybe it’s just memories of Softenni.

Of course they make you sit through ten minutes of glasses to get to the amazing payoff of super saiyan what’s her name, the good one. It’s not fair, I tell you.
