Aquarion EVOL #22 — Boner of Glory
May 27th, 2012
Yeah, it’s one of those episodes.
I’m going to wait until Tuesday to talk about some Reitaisai games, but Takkoman‘s finally out and it’s pretty amusing. Or it could just be the priming effect from that Gatling Cat mess. Lion Heart’s posted a bunch more about Tempest too, but only the trial version’s up for sale.
Impressions:
One of those cluster-putz episodes where a billion things happen and only about a sixth of them weren’t completely ridiculous. Don’t get me wrong, I FAR prefer them to time wasting space filler, but this has been something like the seventh time Shrade’s been at death’s door due to plot convenience, hitting the pause button on Mix/Andy’s stuff after focusing on it for most of the last month is obnoxious (not to mention any of the half dozen other dangling plot threads like Amata’s father), and everything between Mikono and Kagura is impossible to take seriously. He’s screaming about how he’s going to murder you and everybody you care about, and your lady parts are tingling because MAGIC. Oh god, who do I choose? The guy who says he loves me who could be replaced by a tape recorder screaming my name over and over again, or the one who wants to kill and probably eat me? I just don’t know. Mykage and Zessica’s whole thing too. He’s just outright saying she’ll do what he says. No actual reason for it. I guess he saved her… from his own robot, but the main thing seems to be that the females in the show are now all too helpless against Y chromosomes to be able to say no. They could’ve at least gone the whole Sith Lord route with that instead of… whatever the hell this is. Crea also started drinking Shrade’s blood in the middle of the room. Social etiquette, people! Did you bring enough for everybody?
So where to begin… where to begin… Mykage cut Amata in half and created "Dark Amata"/Kagura and proceeded to mindrape him. And then the real Aquarion throws Mikono out from underground while Mykage pleasures himself at the sight of it. There a also wasn’t a whole lot of tension with Kagura attacking Amata what with the multiple giant robots hanging out conveniently just off screen the entire time. They apparently called a time out during the little spat between light and dark Amata. Meanwhile, to the surprise of nobody, Zessica was just slightly buried and/or protected by Mykage, who is multi tasking like a champ. Managing to orgasm over a giant robot while also sexually harassing an unconscious girl, both on a completely different planet. I think you need at least ten years of tantric meditation to be able to do that.
And let’s not forget that Amata’s footwings have been a metaphor for his erection in every previous episodes, so it’s especially creepy when he unlocks his true power by yelling out the whole "I don’t care about destiny" schtick (shock!) and they grow 20 feet long. Then Kagura et all flew off with the real Aquarion and Mikono because Amata has the attention span of a chipmunk and Mikono’s sole purpose in life is to be the helpless damsel in distress and make every situation worse. He also managed to somehow miss the ginormous robot in the dimension tunnel. And Zess pops up in it too.. in her jet. Out of nowhere. And Amata’s entire reaction is, "Huh? You’re okay?" Smooth. Then they accidentally knock themselves out of their combination by overkilling the robot. Again, smooth.

Zessica is revealed to be alive after sacrificing herself for a certain someone.
His reaction?
“Oh, you’re alive Zessica.”
Being Zessica is suffering.
