Lagrange #02 — Convenient Cell Phone Signals
January 15th, 2012
…How does that mech stay upside down when they’re transporting it?
Just FYI, this airs at 5am my time on a Sunday morning, so if I do keep up with this, coverage will be a little more lax and basically be whenever I wake up.
Impressions:
The show continues to be a little mystifying, particularly the cell-phone conversation at the end. "I’ve been hit and I’m slowly sinking to the bottom of the ocean. I also had it sitting out in the cockpit for some reason. How are you? I’m in a robot. It was pretty fun. Oh yeah, do you remember what happened in the ocean years ago? That’s pretty crazy." I’m more impressed that she got a cellphone signal under water. The start of that conversation was probably the most awkward thing. "Where are you!?" "…In a robot." She says she’s been caught in a robot before, to say nothing of sinking to the bottom of the sea with a flaming wreck directly above her.
Unfortunately, that was also just about the most eventful thing this episode. The rest was a whole lot of info dump. "Yada yada drowned, yada yada only you can prevent forest fires pilot the robot now, yada yada whatever." I guess there was a brief introduction to the last of the three pilots, who appeared to be stoned out of her gourd and wandering around the least secure military installation ever.
