Close-ups Of Eyes #01 — A Tale of Breakfast

January 7th, 2012

Well, at least he seems to have slightly eased off head tilts.

Non-Impressions:

Oh sure, I tried to amuse myself for awhile by counting the shots of eyes, but the haze of having woken up a few minutes before I tried to even half-assedly watch this made me lose count at about two minutes in and already at close to half a dozen. Then I thought about counting faraway distance shots and decided it was better to just go have a muffin. So my unbiased review of my experience is that it was a little too mushy and could have probably been baked at least a few minutes longer to give it nice crispy shell. Also, quite frankly, it could have really used more blueberries. Next time, I’m getting chocolate chip.

19 Shouts From the Peanut Gallery

  • Definitely not meant to be the first thing to watch in the morning unsubbed.

    Fucking puns.

  • alex says:

    the show of talking heads

  • ewan says:

Yeah, shaft sucks at sequels, even silver link copied that from them…

  • Chen says:

I shall look forward to the day when Shinbo finally directs an OP that makes a lick of sense.

    Oh, who am I kidding?

  • AGear2Ax says:

Saving budget not only with the close ups of eyes but even with the op… At least I hope Aroduc enjoyed the muffin.

  • TEd says:

WOW sucks balls just gonna be 12 episodes of lame talking heads how is this good another failed shaft project how are they still able to make shows they havent had a good one in years.

    • Nanaya says:

Not exactly a fan of them, but for that comment to stand you have to give some examples of what you thought were recent good shows and not have everybody start trying to smother their laughter.

  • Jack says:

What the hell is that in her hair?

    Egg, sunny side up?

  • DMZ says:

Now I know why I didn’t watch Bakemonogatari. This episode was boooooring.

  • Baby Choo Choo says:

I could never get into Bakemonogatari. I liked it, sure, but it felt like most people thought it was the second coming of anime. I had some fun, but apparently I just didn’t see what was so special about it.

This looks like it’s going to be that all over again.

    • Xellos^_- says:

Enough people like it enough to be the #1 seller per vol DVD/BR in the last decade. #2 is Madoka.

    • Anise_Punter says:

I absolutely hated Bakemonogatari (and Senjougahara especially); never understood the hype. This one seems slightly more palatable, and it also seems like they’ve mercifully toned down the Shaft-ness at least somewhat, though Senjougahara is still her dreadful self.

  • Rednal says:

    Some people hate talking heads.

Me, I happen to enjoy the conversations in this series, so I don’t worry about the rest. At least it’s different from Generic Romance Show #847,392…

  • The Phantom says:

It was not that bad I kind of liked it, definitely on my watch list.

  • The Phantom says:

This is probably superior to anything airing right now with one or none exception. How you are missing this series after missing the last one (that also started slow but ended up being amazing) is beyond me.
