Horizon on the Middle of Nowhere #07 — Robert’s Rules of Order

November 12th, 2011

Well, at least they’re doing something.

Impressions:

Now we’re almost getting somewhere. Sort of. At the very least we’re back to the Musashi folks and they’re finally actively putting things in motion… kind of. They spend the episode having to convince the rest of the council to actually let them go through with the plan to rescue Horizon. I really don’t think there’d be that much of a loss if everybody just rallied behind the class of super people who just had a girl most of them care about kidnapped, but apparently we need to have a debate first. Thankfully, in crazy-science-world, this is apparently done in the form of duels. Okay, so one of them actually is a debate, but Toori undercut Honda by making the argument about saving Horizon and then taking the side to not save her, thus forcing her to argue his side, plus they’re saving the actual debate itself for next week. That’s one thing I wouldn’t mind if they just skipped over now that his master stroke has been revealed.

As for the one actual duel, well… it certainly wasn’t anywhere near as well done as most of the previous stuff. Shiro could have stood to just shut up and hit the boobed mecha too. There really didn’t need to be that much else said after the reveal that he’s juicing off of other people and a fist fight between him and a far-too-feminine mech was not the wisest decision the student council could have made. The whole scene was overlaid with a thick spew of exposition, and even when he finally shut up, his girlfriend took over. At least Toori had the graces to make faces at her while she was rambling though. Beating Neit via lesbian trickery was an interesting gambit, although after the big planning session with dramatic music, I expected a little more than them gambling on her stumbling and Neito’s lesbian urges being too much for her to resist. Still, compared to most protagonists and strategies anime craps out, this is practically Sun Tzu level strategic planning. Suzu’s not getting any more useful in a fight though.

Hey Aroduc are you going to ever update the Side index for the current running series your watching? We’re halfway through the season and you still have shows from summer under your current lineup.
