NO.6 #01 — Wet Boys in Wind
July 7th, 2011
Mmm… boys.
Two down! Four to go.
Impressions:
Man, just like today’s other noitaminA show, this barely even made it through the first sentence of the introductory blurb on the website. Their series are short enough without spending entire episodes on nothing. Some music could have helped a lot in giving those scenes any kind of feeling as well. The almost total absense of it made the episode feel very very empty. There’s a violent blood-covered kid wearing your birthday present. Can you really not summon up any kind of emotion at all? I have no idea why they insisted on keeping hte lights off either. Besides, wasn’t this show supposed to be about swarms of evil bees or something?
So, yes, if you could not tell, I’m underimpressed. It went nowhere, the leads were lame aside from the spoon throat-slit, and the entire setup was just a taaaad bit past the suspension of disbelief. Perhaps if they didn’t begin it with the lead daydreaming about floating through the air and then have an OP of much the same, then followed by him posing (and screaming!) in the typhoon, my spider sense for this stuff wouldn’t start tingling. Maybe Bones is trying to break into Key’s "Girls Standing in Heavy Wind" monopoly and seize the market for boys doing the same… while staring longingly at each other. The direction was a little bit amusing in general, especially at the start as they cut from location to location. It’s not particularly well-made in any way for that matter. I think the majority of their efforts went into clouds.
And I made it the entire post without commenting on two boys laying on a bed, one wearing the other’s clothes, clutching each other’s hands. Well, almost made it.

From what they show in the OP. this seems to be about good rich boy x runaway violent boy relationship as childrens and then as adults, so yea this could not be more gay even if they tried, boys sleeping together and holding hands gimnme a break bones…
Admittedly I liked the visuals, the city settings and Nafu x Shion, but this show seems to be focused on boy x boy action (Nafu is not even in the opening) so I will just stay away.
