Tiger & Origami #08 — Useless Powers Inc

May 21st, 2011

If those are the ones in training, I wonder what the rejects are like.

Impressions:

First off, if Origami’s power is shapeshifting, then how the blazes did he get a job that generally requires super strength, flight, immunity to bullets, etc? He is useless for anything besides like… recon. Hell, why not just put some random guy in a suit? How about Mr. Stretchy Face? At least then you wouldn’t have the overwhelming angst. That’s also an issue. He’s been a gag character for the last two months. Now, all of a sudden, the mask comes off and he unleashes nothing but whining and misery. It’s also one of the weirder superhero sob stories. While he was still in training, he was proximal to a hostage situation, and unlike his friend, was too much of a pussy to step in and save the girl. Of course, his friend managed to successfully use his sand powers to shoot the hostage, so… you know… maybe he made the right decision after all. I also wonder why the hostage stood there staring at them as they all struggled with Mr. Sandman. Again, it’s amazing that the people in this city survive given how little use their brains seem to get.

Unfortunately, the bleh writing doesn’t end there. The start of the episode is about people starting to doubt the need for heroes because of Lunatic, so the heroes all do random acts of public service and go speak at the local NEXT academy… full of out-of-shape middle aged people with useless powers. Weren’t these powers supposed to be rare? Or these people supposed to be in training? Then, at the end Barnaby decided that he didn’t care about Lunatic after all. You can trust Lunatic too. Would that face lie? Again, stupidity, miracle anybody still breathing, yada yada. It could be potentially interesting just because they’re shifting it to Tiger vs Lunatic, but on the other hand, Bunny’s back to his original generic angsty self and his undirected plan to sit around until more Ouroboros plot devices fall into his lap.

And next week they take care of a super-powered baby. Great.

YEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!111!1!!111!!11! Finally! I’ve been waiting for Origami to make his official appearance <333

Now awaiting for an ep featuring Sky High and I won't regret watching this show ~

    • Aroduc says:

…But all he did was whine.

      • Anonymous says:

At least he whined better than our duo yaoi suckers who keep doing that for the last 8 eps. And you gotta admit Origami at least has MOAR class than Tiger. I neither know why they make such a pathetic character the protagonist nor understand why such trend seems to be so popular in japanese-made animu… <.<

This show would be sooooo much better if they exclude that fucker out but that's just wishful thinking from my part.

  • Pronas says:

finally next week seems to be a dragon kid episode.

  • This show just keeps sucking more and more.

The “Hero Campaign” just made me head-desk super hard.

  • Yue says:

So according to the Aroduc’s impressions, this is really a gag anime and not some hardcore action tv series? ~_~

    • Aroduc says:

If this is hardcore anything, it’s the kind of thing involving two sweaty men with the older one gently teaching the younger one how to take it like a little boy.
