Under the Innocent Sky #07 — Left Foot, Boob
May 15th, 2011
I don’t think boob is a color… let alone *censored*
Impressions:
Not the episode that I was expecting at all, but actually rather fun. Garuda isn’t all that evil really, just unrestrained… and with only a very tenuous grip on reality… even for somebody who has a good reason to believe that they’re king of a magical world. Well, and he declares that the body is now his and all the rest will not be coming back, but that sets Kobato off and a few seconds later, he gives it up. Garuda was just a lot more wacky than I was expecting, especially after the end of the previous episode. He spent this episode having a picnic in the middle of the street, picking a fight with a giant snowman, reading a sex-ed book, and then starting a rap-cake-fight. Plus, there was also the return of the sexy heroine time at the start playing dirty santa twister.
Let’s start with the smaller developments and work our way up. It’s outright revealed this week that Kakeru and Phoenix are the same person, which isn’t much of a surprise since Kakeru’s already been shown to be a little bit of a drug addict and had a sore shoulder after being shot in it. After that, we get that the ‘princesses’ of Gretagard are important to all of them. Also, they all got a glance at Itami and wondered if it was their protag, but he escaped before they could take a real look. I guess the takeaway message there is that the different appearance between them all is only in their mind and/or the audience’s view. Although as to who the audience is… well… I’ll get to that.
And finally we come to the big one that despite being the only one that shares the surname, Takashi isn’t Kobato’s ‘real’ brother, although I would said that whether he really isn’t the original personality, or Kobato is in love with another one that she thinks as the real one is still up for debate. Let’s not forget that she was naked with him… them… awhile back. Also, nobody goes on about needing to be a ‘good girl’ that much without a screw loose somewhere. Presumably, that personality is the one that was shown watching OreTuba TV at the end of the episode, but the last time I said ‘presumably,’ it was regarding Takashi being the original/most important. Although if he’s not, then what bloody point does he have at all?

A return to ‘normalcy.’

What? I can’t even tell what that was supposed to be. It looks like they narrowly avoided some sort of War of the Worlds heat ray. Not the most important part to focus on, but I still find it odd comparead to the top… sixth of the screenshots.
