Do drugs, stream on the internet, be a magic girl.

Taking a break for this. 3-4 more premieres to go, at least.

Impressions:

Uhhhh… huh. Well, they're certainly not shying away from the darker aspects of the origin game like the various censored versions that replaced hard drugs with magical candy. Including even one's boyfriend raping her. I'm not sure I could actually say what it is really going for though, aside from being disconcerting and edgy. More actually effectively edgy than most anime, which usually just go for people looking horrified at the camera. Lots of disturbing imagery, audio, quick cuts that keep you disoriented, so on and so forth.

What I feel it's mainly lacking is a centralizing narrative. The episode feels like a series of disconnected vignettes. Mainly about streamer girls in desperate need of therapy, but the long final interview thing with the main one feels like it should have been the thing that ties it all together, but it was also probably the weakest, especially in the visuals. Then it cuts away to the council of magical girls or something, and I feel like all the atmosphere and discomfort that it was building not just didn't pay off, but suddenly shifted into some other show entirely.

In any case, it was certainly an interesting first episode, more than can be said for most. But I'm not sure how much of that was nonsense for nonsense's sake, and where it's even intending to go from here, things you tend to want from your introductions.
