Samurai Troopers #05 — Flashbacks on Flashbacks

February 3rd, 2026

But at least when it's not flashing back, there's janky, awful CGI.

Impressions:

I'll glance at the next episode, but I'm pretty sure I'm calling it here. They killed off a main character, and all I could think was how pathetic it was. He turned into freaking sparklies. Honestly, this could've been something to drag out. Saving him instead of killing things for once. The reveal that all the baddies are under mind-control or corruption or whatever. But no, purification sword dragged out of someone's ass, and sparklies. It was a foregone conclusion too. You don't start an episode with three damn minutes of flashback about the guy and cut away to more flashbacks thirty times in the rest of the episode. Just kill the boring dude already.

Also, the big bad is revealed to be one of the original Troopers, which, again, is something that I don't care a whit about, so falls totally flat. So I'm out of reasons to watch, honestly, and have no hope that any of the more over the top and seemingly subversive stuff from the first episode will be coming back as it has fully transitioned back into the original, just marginally less corny.
