I wasn't expecting a straight up clip from Youtube.

Impressions:

Look, anime. I'm not going to say that I wouldn't also mock you if you used stills for dance sequences, but if your CGI is going to be this poorly and haphazardly used, maybe consider it just to save on the money. We're already tossing up a clip from Youtube from Scatman Jones to fill the time. Why not cut your losses entirely? CGI is expensive and you're mostly just having people krumping in place with really fast cuts in and out of 2D and uncanny valley 3D. Who possibly thinks that this looks good? With that out of the way, it is Another Club Show: Type 3 – Melodramatic version. The protagonist tried to dance once, literally everybody made fun of him, so now he's permanently traumatized by it but also fascinated and the only thing that can possibly make him dance again is if a manic pixie dream girl were to say "Hey, why don't you do it?" And so he does. Whew. That's trauma conquered after twenty minutes of agonizing over it, but don't worry, I'm sure it'll be back to re-trauma all over the place next week.

Amazingly, none of that is even the worst part. The worst part is how skeevy the show is. His buddies sneak upskirt shots of her. He gets totally embarrassed by it, but can't help but stare at her thighs anyway. He's totally not like the bad ones, he thinks while fantasizing about her upskirt pics. What mischievous boys they are. So the protagonist whose head we're trapped in is horrid, and the manic pixie dream girl is… just your garden variety manic pixie dream girl, who emits bloom and heals everything by paying attention to this lump of dance-angst. Boy, don't give us too much character to work with here. Even if you're here for the dancing, you're not getting that from this episode either.
