Chitose in Ramune #01 — Springtime of my Springtime of my Youth
October 7th, 2025
Go easy on the bloom, guys.
While technically a full hour broadcast, the episode itself was about 33 minutes, thank god, and the rest was VAs advertising local restaurants. Because of course it was. This is the weird tourism tie-in that every show not taking place in an RPG must have these days.
Impressions:
There's a very low amount of listening to teenagers ruminate on the springtime of their youth that I can stomach before my eyes start to roll back far enough in my head to check my own brain for aneurysms, and we blew past that line in about 45 seconds. Then it was time to listen to the internal narration introduction to him, and to his harem. And then the external narration introduction to him, from him, and his harem. And to the harem, again, from him, and the harem. The pacing was not great. And it was about as organic as a brick. Delivered with as much tact as well. Particularly how every single person in the world, male and female, feels the need to tell him that he's the bestest ever. Except for the haters. They hate him because he's so awesome and amazing. Also something announced like five times over.
It doesn't do a very good job of lovable rascal, and certainly not to the level of something similar like SeiZon or even Sister is All You Need. Those were also kind of melodramatic dudes up their own asses, but they had actual chemistry with the other characters instead of it all being a fawning fanclub dedicated to extolling his greatness. That, and the godawful pacing. It's ironic because probably the best scene of the episode was the random-ass manic pixie dream girl in the middle of the episode simply because he was briefly insecure and failed at something. But then she spent the next couple minutes rambling about the springtime of youth and extolling his greatness. So it was also an encapsulation of everything obnoxious about him and the episode as a whole. A mountain of inorganic fangasming over a dude doing absolutely nothing.
