Turkey #02 — Stealth Bowling

July 15th, 2025

You know, just jumping out and hitting them with a ball would have made more sense.

Impressions:

Once again, things went a bit off the rails towards the end, though this time earlier than before. Their grand plan to roll bowling balls around to sort of, but not really spooky bandits, only to jump out and announce their presence before throwing a bowling ball at them from 20 feet away to ricochet and knock both out simultaneously was… let's say corny. Because calling it immensely imbecilic would giving it too much credit. The entire thing would have fallen apart had they done anything but stand there, staring at them for a few seconds while they announced their presence, wound up, rolled the ball, and it traveled all the way to them, to say nothing of how on earth you managed to surround them clandestinely, coordinate, and bowl perfectly through a forest. And then they demand to know why somebody on a battlefield would risk their lives to attack the enemy. That just doesn't make sense. Finally we end with them going to a village and their twink savior has his own personal bowling alley. Where someone is bowling. Because of course. So they can end the episode on "BOWLING!?"

I'm still not totally sure which way this is trending, and I don't think the creators do either. There are some harrowing shots in the obnoxiously sugary bubblegum pop OP, and of course, the severed head and instant attempted rape by bandits, which does not juxtapose well at all with the frankly Scooby Doo Saturday morning level of dealing with their situation. I guess it's still at least notable in some way for being unhinged nonsense in this otherwise dire season, but there's a limited shelf life for that kind of thing, and definitely doesn't have the production of To Be Hero when things get really, really stupid, even though they're sort of already there.
