Turkey #01 — Suddenly, Sengoku

July 8th, 2025

Okay, that was admittedly very unexpected.

Impressions:

This took a bit of a turn at the end, and while I don't really like ignoring 99% of the episode to focus on the last twenty seconds, at absolutely no point would I think anybody have expected a magical portal to suddenly open up and everybody be transported via magical bowling ball into the Sengoku Era. That's one way to get some buzz for your original show; to be absolutely completely bonkers with zero previous indication. So are we going to be bowling with Nobunaga now? Is somebody going to be stabbed? Are we going on a time travel journey through different eras? Or is this just a weird dream and it'll be right back to wanting to try your best, but mad at a friend for having the yips? I kid. They updated the webpage when the episode aired and it is indeed, bizarrely, about bowling with Nobunaga and severed heads.

But that also doesn't erase the previous 22 minutes of the episode. She always gets three strikes, and then chokes, so that she can yell the name f the show. That's the premise by which we're going to be all melodramatic and pissy at each other, because nothing matters more than high school girls bowling, and right up until time travel reared its head, I was wondering why we weren't getting any fun facts about bowling. Well, not wondering. More like rolling my eyes that bowling was being used as the fill in the blank for generic high school club melodrama. Not that fun facts would have made things… uh… fun, but one can only take girls whining about how they want to do their best, but they're frustrated because they can't all do their best unless everybody is doing their absolute absolute best.
