Much easier to animate.

Double length first episode. One of two of those today across four premieres, so I will be taking breaks for sanity preservation purposes. Which I'm already doing now so I can walk the dogs before the summer heat gets painful.

Impressions:

This definitely didn't need to be double length, and I don't think that did it any real favors because the pacing dragged quite a bit. The second half especially where it kept trying to inject weird jokes. She's a virgin. It's peeing on her. This was also interspersed with a whole bunch of random infodumping about geopolitics, child rearing and basic economy. The immortal misanthropic god beast needs to have literally everything explained to him. There's also something slightly weird about his motivation. He wants to kill all humans because they want to kill him and ruin his land. This is introduced by… a pastoral village and the countryside teaming with giant monsters. It certainly doesn't seem like humanity is overrunning nature here, and your natural utopia is filled with poison spewing hydras. 

 Otherwise, everything's kind of whatever. Not the worst thing I've watched, but I can't say I saw anything that made me feel like it'd improve. The animation's servicable at best. There is at least a plot and it's not that people are level 99 and just want a relaxed life. Nobody is constantly screaming in overreaction to everything nor was the violence played up for maximum gross factor. But there's nothing novel or too eyecatching either, and the whole baby schtick is already wearing very thin. It would have helped the second half especially if the girl had done anything other than being a mouthpiece for infodumping and butt of bad jokes. I will always prefer stories of characters actually doing bloody anything instead of reciting world factoids for no actual purpose.
