Where's the fun parts?

Impressions:

How good is this when the budget has crashed and the animators are no longer allowed to either show off their appreciation for retro action shows or over the top fight scenes, and it's devolved into just girls making faces loudly? Not the question that I was hoping to be posed by the second episode, but the one that we got. Everything distinctive and interesting about the first episode was cast into the void, leaving only the generic, and loud, behind. Not to mention how weirdly defensive it is around murder at the behest of the rich and corrupt.

And it didn't make up the hole with a better focus on the story or a cohesive narrative. It's still a series of vignettes with zero connection. They go shopping. One meets their old leader. They gossip about the future. They all sit down and have tea. Then the group of corpses has tea and gossips about their future. So even that is sort of undermining the dark humor when everybody who gets stabbed is still kicking around, making their own silly faces. It's still… okay, as far as girls making faces goes, but the first episode did have more to it than just that, and this one had nothing whatsoever that would make it stand out, and certainly not laugh, so is profoundly disappointing and well on its way to purely irritating if it doesn't pick back up.
