Memento Yuri #07 — Montage Fight
February 13th, 2025
I'm past ready to be done with the manic cooking segments awkwardly jammed in.
Impressions:
Another mess of an episode, but at least the plot advanced a bit. For a while, it seemed like they were setting up the green thing to sacrifice herself, or be the only one without friends/family among the survivors, but then she just… stopped clutching her chest and staggering around, her mom showed up, and we fully switched over to the monster in their midst instead. I was wondering how long it'd take for the obvious Chekhov's Gun of her wound to be revealed, and thankfully, it was just a couple minutes. Then it was followed by the entire rest of the episode basically going "Hey, look at all this stuff some girl was putting on the web and how you're an amalgamation of all of it" while she clutches her head in angst. Wow. What a coincidence. What could it all mean.
Well, at least it seems like the action continues next week, but this week's action was quite awful, especially given how dramatic things should have been and how hyped up the whole Save The Survivors schtick was. They explained the plan, then montaged over it, and everything worked out perfectly without a hitch. Didn't even get to see them fighting the big boss. Everybody pretty much did their one attack, shouted their signature line yet again, as if they ever stopped doing that, and then cut to everything having wandered off or died. Not sure we needed a goddamn month of filler to build up to this one, guys.
