Impressions:

It's still decent enough, certainly one of the very, very few well animated shows this season, and had 98% less sexual assault than last week, but christ, would it be improved if the dude was jettisoned from the show via canon directly into the side of a mountain. Lord knows it would probably be quieter than having to listen to him scream every .04 picoseconds. Scream petulantly at that. Every time she tries to be nice to him, or has some plan to do something, he has to throw it back in her face and yell about what a pathetic maladjusted little jackass he is. Are the one or two times that he finally decides that he'll actually try supposed to make up for the 18 minutes of yelling how helpless and hapless he is? Knowing shounen, probably.

The monster of the week was pretty nonsensical on every level though. They called out its gimmick and the supposed way to beat it, and then that was just ignored. It pounded them into pancakes, and they spat up enough blood to drown a hippo, and have barely more than some scratches. The way they eventually beat it was sticking the seal they took off back on the gate while sort of, but not really outside it, which… sealed it inside, I guess? Playing fast and loose with the rules is fine, but it's also throwing them out just as quickly as it makes them up, so they're lacking weight, and further diluted by the dude yelling nonsense over top of all of it. The skeleton of the action scenes could definitely be tightened up quite a bit.
