Suicide Squad in Ivalice #07 — Clay Sword
July 25th, 2024
Oh, so Clayface isn't vulnerable to physical objects after all.
Impressions:
At least it's still trying with the animation, but at this point, the script is quite unsalvagable on both the moment to moment level as well as the macro level. Their big plan was to capture a random elf and then hit it with a hammer. That would, for some reason, disable all the mind-controlled elves because A.) They're also all mind linked, and B.) Despite being used in wars and even seeing them burned to a crisp, a couple broken fingers are so much unimaginable pain that it will disable the entire army. And it all goes off without a single hitch, with Enchantress and Killer Croc apparently having decided to piss off to Germany or something.
Meanwhile, The Thinker is such a super genius that he can't see through this plan and sends the whole army to deal with the one elf being tortured, on top of being a master of martial arts because he's super smart… except that merely glancing into Harley's mind turns him catatonic. Come on. This isn't even a psychopathic version of the Joker. Her backstory is nothing. All this sends the evil queen into a frothing, slobbering rage and pronouncement that it's time for the fourth round of jail and nonsensical exposition.
But at least its fight scenes are well animated. That's all that's carrying it.

The first well-animated episode.
