Stardust Telepath #01 — Manic Alien Girlfriend
October 9th, 2023
Quiet in your head, please.
Impressions:
Another one of these too shy to do anything shows, and if we're calling the perpetual sexual flush, whimpering, and rubbing of bodies on each other fanservice, then a very fanservicey one. I especially like how their lips gain and lose detail from shot to shot depending on how much they're blushing and/or how much they're rubbing on each other at the moment. Insecure shy girl meets manic pixie alien girlfriend who unlike all the other people who are generally affable and friendly to her, also has ridiculously colored hair, which shows that they're the protagonists.
It's probably not one of the better ones of its ilk. The presentation of, say, Bocchi or Komi has a much better focus on the humor/characters while this is pretty much just two hyperactive characters ranting incoherently. Why is a bit weird for a 'shy' character who can't express herself… constantly expressing herself at exhaustive length… almost entirely yelled. And you know how much I love screamed internal narration. Not what I feel is the best way to present insecurity or shyness, and yet it's a well Japan is constantly returning to. It's not the worst either. It's certainly expressive and contains lots of girls making silly faces, if that's your idea of humor. And loud. Very, very loud.
