This yet again.

Impressions:

I probably would've skipped this post if Apothecary Diaries had deigned to show up at a reasonable time, but alas. And I'm over my old occasional habit of just grabbing a more direct stream and manually capping from that. I'm going out for a bit to run some errands, so… it'll be up eventually. Anyway, this episode was less action focused, so it less embarrassed itself by not having anywhere near enough animation to pretend to be an action packed show. Which also means that it largely ignored its cheat power-adjacent premise, probably a good thing on balance.

But that just leaves it a very, very painfully generic magical fighting high school kind of show, same as a trillion other light novels, mostly from ten years ago. A vaguely overpowered hero, but keeping it on the DL. Nobles being classist jerks. Tsundere heroine. Cliches that I can certainly stomach, and the characters are certainly a grade above your regular reincarnation nonsense, without fetishizing slavery, or just going full fanservice like that demon lord in holy sword school show. But ye gods, there's just… so little here to latch onto or be excited about. Obviously not the production, but we're in no hurry to get to the story or prepare for disaster either. You'd think he'd be a little more motivated to prevent the apocalypse.
