Harley Quinn #43 — Why It’s OK To Hate Women Who Sneeze

August 18th, 2023

It's a phlegm thing.

Impressions:

I did forget about this yesterday until after dinner, at which point I was in no mood for another mediocre to poor episode. On the plus side, this was the first time in… this entire season maybe? That Ivy was acting like the character that she was for the previous three seasons. Not wanting to deal with the Johns. Surly to children. Generally anti-social, but still at least somewhat sympathetic to other people. Not too many decent jokes though. I was certainly sick of the urinating statue by the end, and they seemed particularly proud of that one by the number of times they showed it.

On the other hand, it's still juggling way too many balls and I have very little faith that any of these long storylines it is stringing out are going to pay off. Dick's supposedly dead, just ignore the Lazarus Pit it immediately cuts to. Joker's taking credit for it, though stashing people in trees is not exactly a Joker kind of thing. Harley's escalated into hallucinating herself and I guess just totally ditched Bruce, who remember she said would try to help him and be his psychiatrist to help him through what you'd think would be a recent trauma, though I wouldn't be surprised if they had simply forgotten about that. Plus there's an entire C plot about Gordon and the shark babies which feels like cut content that they couldn't figure out anywhere better to toss in.
