Impressions:

We continue with the awful endings, though admittedly, this one was much more expected what with it being based on a manga that is nowhere near finished and not actually ever setting up any kind of ending. Also, the title for the epsiode is basically "NO ENDING AT ALL HERE," so expectations were rock bottom. Still, Kiruko getting over being raped and tortured about five minutes later by Maru yelling how much he has a crush on them? Abrupt barely begins to cover it. Likewise, for the vault kids. Tokio mutates and explodes and… that's the end of that, I guess. The rest find a ship and… the journey continues. Oh, and the rapist dude was also running mad scientist experiments, but we're not following up that either.

I'm mixed on Maru's confrontation with Robin too. The quiet, cold rage? That was good. Nicely set the mood without bothering to unnecessarily explain that he's pissed off and snapped for the obvious reasons. But I really wish it had been uglier. Not just Maru enacting his revenge perfectly as the invincible superhero rolling up. Make it more raw, visceral, and emotional. Less a power fantasy, more a torrent of emotions. The whole bit still should've just not existed at all and some actual at least attempt of a pseudo-ending made instead, but I'd also like a new Ogre Battle, and we sure ain't getting that ever either.
